Hairline Design for Women with Hair Loss!

>> Sunday, December 6, 2009

Dr. Nausbaum et al in Miami, FL published a special study in Dermatologic Surgery Journal regarding female hairline design. His study consisted of a large panel of women with normal or not thinning hair. This study was designed to better clarify what a regular female hairline should look like. This is a great article considering that hair restoration has always been the focus for men rather than women.

Within the article, he describes universal placement of dominant features in women with healthy non-balding hair. Out of 360 women in this study, 81% of women had the widow’s peak and 90% also had lateral mounds.

This new shift in hair restoration for women has proven to be very beneficial. Our hair restoration surgery office specializes in hairline design and reconstruction in both men and women. Our techniques have helped women who suffer from female patterned hair loss and male patterned baldness. We have also applied these techniques on transgendered (male to female) patients. This is done to soften the masculine features and create a more feminine frame for the patient.

In addition, this study has helped our hair transplant center to better identify how to reconstruct female hairlines for optimum appearance. According to the study, there seems to be no question about certain positioning of hairlines in women with full, healthy heads of hair.

The findings by Dr. Nausbaum has made hair restoration doctors' jobs a bit more easier and it's also good news for women who've been considering hair loss treatment
through a hair transplant.
